SCANNING SERVICES

Blue Skies provides aerial film scanning services, utilizing the latest Wehrli and Associates, Inc. photogrammetric scanner, the RM-6. The RM-6 meets or exceeds all photogrammetric standards for radiometric and geometric accuracy and can achieve scan resolutions as high as 8 microns. Its roll film scanning capability increases scan quality while reducing costs and saving time.

Blue Skies has a 225-square-foot environmentally controlled facility for scanning  and aerial film handling. A dedicated HVAC system maintains the room at a stable temperature and humidity, and double doors, tacky mats, a positive pressure environment, and HEPA filtration minimize dust intake to the facility. Blue Skies uses an HAS Images, Inc., aerial film cleaner to clean film prior to scanning. The scanning room and work practices of Blue Skies staff are designed to preserve the integrity and provide the best quality scan of your aerial film.

Scanning services are performed under Blue Skies' ISO 9001:2008-certified quality management system.

DUST & SCRATCH REMOVAL

Blue Skies' RM-6 is equipped with an optional Dust-and-Scratch Removal Module. The module uses a combination of hardware and software to effectively remove dust specks and fine base scratches from film. The scanner makes a second scan of the image using an infrared light source to detect aberrations on the film surface (the IR light source does not see the film). Then software correlates any detected dust or scratches to the actual scanned image and uses a nearest-neighbor pixel sampling method to mask the detected problem areas.
