In BSC's effort to maintain ISO 9001:2008 certification, an
extensive recertification audit was conducted on January 27th and
28th of 2011. The auditor found no nonconformities and, once again,
BSC was recommended for continued certification.
Last year, in an effort to clarify the standard's intent, ISO
9001:2000 was revised and upgraded by an international team to ISO 9001:2008. On
January 15, 2010, BSC's annual surveillance audit included extensive review to
ensure BSC's quality management system met requirements of the upgraded
standard. The auditor found no nonconformities and recommended BSC for continued
certification under the ISO 9001 program.

Founded in 1947, the International Organization
for Standardization (ISO) is a network of national standards institutes
from more than 140 countries that work in partnership with international
organizations, governments, industry, business, and consumer representatives
to create international standards for business practices. The expressed
purpose of ISO is to facilitate international trade by providing a single set
of standards that people everywhere recognize and respect. The ISO 9001:2000
standard, one of several standards for which ISO is responsible, specifies
requirements for an organization’s quality management system. It emphasizes
meeting customer requirements and achieving customer satisfaction. It also
requires that a company evaluate the effectiveness and suitability of its
quality management system and that it implement systemic improvements
on an on-going basis.
