In BSC's effort to maintain ISO 9001:2008 certification, an extensive recertification audit was conducted on January 27th and 28th of 2011. The auditor found no nonconformities and, once again, BSC was recommended for continued certification.

Update: January 19, 2010

Last year, in an effort to clarify the standard's intent, ISO 9001:2000 was revised and upgraded by an international team to ISO 9001:2008. On January 15, 2010, BSC's annual surveillance audit included extensive review to ensure BSC's quality management system met requirements of the upgraded standard. The auditor found no nonconformities and recommended BSC for continued certification under the ISO 9001 program.

Blue Skies Maintains ISO 9001:2000 Certification for 2009

Blue Skies Consulting, LLC, recently earned re-certification under ISO 9001:2000 by Orion Registrar, Inc. The certification applies to Blue Skies’ quality management system for its aerial photography services for mapping and surveying applications including primary data acquisition, systems integration, and high-resolution film scanning.

Founded in 1947, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a network of national standards institutes from more than 140 countries that work in partnership with international organizations, governments, industry, business, and consumer representatives to create international standards for business practices. The expressed purpose of ISO is to facilitate international trade by providing a single set of standards that people everywhere recognize and respect. The ISO 9001:2000 standard, one of several standards for which ISO is responsible, specifies requirements for an organization’s quality management system. It emphasizes meeting customer requirements and achieving customer satisfaction. It also requires that a company evaluate the effectiveness and suitability of its quality management system and that it implement systemic improvements on an on-going basis.

Blue Skies participated in a year-long course on ISO 9001:2000 sponsored by the New Mexico Economic Development Department, Honeywell, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and Sandia National Laboratories in 2003. Blue Skies became registered as an ISO 9001:2000-certified company on September 2, 2005.

Blue Skies is a woman-owned small business located at Belen’s Alexander Airport. The company specializes in aerial data acquisition for remote sensing applications, and its personnel have over 50 years experience on projects throughout the United States and in Mexico, the Caribbean, and South America. Its emphasis on quality assurance and client satisfaction has led to exceptional corporate growth over its ten-year history.

Blue Skies was named the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s 2003 Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year and is registered as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise with the New Mexico Department of Transportation’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program and the New Mexico Unified Certification Program.
